The new supermarket voucher scheme will start on Monday 20th April and will provide the parents of children who are entitled to free school meals with a voucher towards food shopping while school is closed. The scheme applies to all children who are entitled to free school meals due to receiving one of the below -

- income-related Employment and Support Allowance the guaranteed part of Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit (as long as your annual gross income is £16,190 or less and you don’t get Working Tax Credit)
- Working Tax Credit run-off after you come off Working Tax Credit
- Universal Credit that you applied for on, or after, 1 April 2018. As long as your household income is less than £7,400 a year after tax, not including any benefits
Children in receipt of Universal Infant Free School Meals (Rec-Year2) will not receive a voucher unless you have previously applied for free school meals via the council and receive the support as listed above.
The company who is administering the scheme is called Edenred. An eCode will be emailed to you using the email address that we have on your child’s record. The email will be sent to parents on Sunday 19th April.
You will receive a 16 digit code in the email which you will need to redeem at www.freeschoolmeals.co.uk You will then be able to redeem the code for a voucher to be used at one of the supermarkets listed below
You will then receive an eGift card to your email address. This can take up to 3 hours to be sent to your inbox. The eGift card has a barcode which is scanned at the till in the supermarket.
Vouchers for the next 4 weeks have been ordered so each child will receive £60 (£15 per week). If there is more than one child in the family, you will receive one eCode for the family to the correct value. So £120 for two children, £180 for 3 children etc – The code will only show the name of one of the children and not all the names.
