Homework
When your child starts school he/she will be given a combined Reading Record and Homework Planner booklet in which your child will write spellings for the week and any homework they have.
Class teachers will also record hearing your child read and add useful comments. The booklet is also for you to use. Please record when you listen to your child read and any other comments you may have about their spellings, homework or other school work. This book is a valuable means of communication between the class teacher and parents. It must be brought into school every day.
All children can expect to do some homework each week. Infant children are expected to read every evening. In Years 1 and 2 children should learn spellings and complete set Literacy and Numeracy work, totalling approximately one hour per week.
Junior children are expected to read for at least 20 minutes each day, learn spellings and complete tasks in Literacy, Numeracy, Science and other subjects, totalling 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours per week. Additional homework may be set in the run up to Year 6 SATs.
